This paper describes and analyzes the operation of Backup – Protection – Expert – System (BPES) which uses to supply an optimal clearance the faults at anywhere on the transmission networks (it ensures the optimum selection and speed-up in the operation of back-up relay system). The experts proposed some model of BPES but with this rule’s base they only solved the faults happening on the transmission lines. This subject suggests modifying the rule’s base in order to solve the faults even at bus bar in transmission substations. Some specific faults of a part of Southern Vietnam 220kV transmission network are also analyzed by BPES and proposed solutions in order to make you to understand clearly the effect of BPES
