Abstract

Locations of arresters in protection schematic affect significantly the preserve performance against stroke- lightning to stations. The peak value of the return stroke current and the slope of the wave front have effects on failure risks of distributing stations. This paper presents the simulation technology and statistic analysis of random-lighting-characteristics to estimate risk of failure of important nodes and dispose locations of arresters in electric network. Economic and permissible risk criteria are used to construct a program determining the positions of arresters to protect distribution stations.
