This paper presents the exerimental results of water extraction from atmospheric air by using small refrigeration system and refrigerant R290. In this study, a small capacity refrigeration system employing refrigerant R290 was designed, manufactured, and installed in Ho Chi Minh City to evaluate the influence of weather conditions on the thermodynamic parameters of the system in the process of water extraction from the atmospheric air. Experimental results under real weather conditions showed that when the ambient temperature and humidity ranged from 29,9 oC to 37 oC and 38% to 70%, the condensing temperature and pressure ranged from 41 oC to 49 oC and 13 to 15.8 bar, while the evaporating temperature and pressure ranged from 3.6 oC to 6.2 oC and 4.3 to 4.7 bar. Furthermore, the amount of water collected from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. was 7.85 liters, which corresponded to a 7.55 kWh power usage.
