The programmed instruction is a self – teaching model in which lessons are designed as a an algorithm. Students, therefore, study on unit of knowlegde at their own rate, check their own answers and advance only after answering correctly. In another words, this approach help students develop their skills of self-study, self-assessment and self-control. Utilizing the Lectora software to design a programmed instruction lesson is a suitable choice. In this paper, we discuss on a procedure of designing a Biology lessons base on the Programmed Instruction approach by using the Lectora software to develop students’ self-study skills and to enhance the quality of subject teaching as well. This procedure include 6 steps as follows: Analyze the logic of content/lessons → Write objectives→ Identify unit of knowledge and set up a weighing scales table → Describe units of knowledge → Write the lesson plan on paper to build a logical structure of the lesson → Build and finalize the programmed instruction lesson by the Lectora software. Biology lessons are designed as programmed instructions by using the Lectora software have shown the ability of developing students’ active participating as well as their self-study skills and aligning with the e-learning age
