Abstract

The study aims to design, manufacture and test of medicinal herbs cutter in order to meet the demand for capacity, quantity and specific energy consumption for medicinal herbs cutting. On the basis of the specific cutting pressure for medicinal plants has been determined experimentally, three medicinal herbs were selected to calculatie: Ageratum conyzoides, Pseuderanthemum palatiferum and Jussiaea repens oenotheracene tree. The medicinal herbs cutter for these trees with capacity of 120 kg/h was calculated, designed and manufactured. The cutter has two straight blades, the revolution of 330 rpm, the number of roller is 243 rpm, electric motor of 2.2 kW.

Using the cutter has been manufatured, the study determined the effect of revolutions on productivity, length of cut and specific power consumption for cutting process. The results showed the cutter has achieved some economic and technical criteria such as productivity of 120 kg/h, length of the medicinal herbs about 30 mm. The specific energy consumption for cutting process for Ageratum conyzoides, Pseuderanthemum palatiferum, Jussiaea repens oenotheracene is 16.51, 15.83 và 14.97 Wh/kg, respectively.
