Abstract

With the continuous advancement of Education 4.0 towards Education 5.0, self-directed learning in a digital learning environment has become an essential and critical skill for everyone, especially for university students pursuing their aspirations. In this context, dynamic students in the modern education system actively seek out knowledge, explore independently, and apply the skills and knowledge they have acquired to solve problems encountered in both academic and everyday life. This process fosters creativity and enhances students’ critical thinking abilities. The emergence of various online learning tools has laid a solid foundation for promoting self-directed learning across a wide range of disciplines, including Natural Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Medicine and Health Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, as well as Social Sciences and Humanities. This paper investigates the self-learning capacity of students at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education in a digital learning environment by conducting and analyzing responses collected through an online survey.
