Using minimum cut to prevent congestion in electrical power system

Abstract

When switched to power market, the transmission congestion occurs frequently and affects the reliability and stability of electric power system. Therefore, congestion control is an important function of any ISO and it is a process to ensure for transmission system that is not violated the operation limits. This paper presents a method using minimum cut and electricity price of the generators to determine generating power of the generators which aimed at inter- zonal and intra-zonal congestion alleviation. The research results rely on the sample grid 5 bus and IEEE 14 bus that shows the effectiveness of proposed algorithm.
