Trong ngữ cảnh dạy-học với sự trợ giúp của máy tính - CBT (computer-based training) hay CAI ( computer-assisted instruction), việc ứng dụng user profile sẽ giúp hệ thống cung cấp những tài nguyên học tập hoặc tư vấn học tập cho người học phù hợp với khả năng và nền tảng kiến thức của người học, và đã có nhiều các nghiên cứu để xây dựng những hệ thống đào tạo thích nghi như vậy. Bài báo của chúng tôi là một khảo sát chi tiết về ứng dụng user profile vào trong các hệ thống đào tạo thích nghi, nhằm làm cơ sở cho việc cải tiến và xây dựng những hệ thống đào tạo thích nghi trực tuyến từ đó có thể áp dụng cho hình thức học kết hợp (blended-learning environment), một hình thức học thích hợp cho bối cảnh dạy-học (cụ thể là đại học) ở các nước đang phát triển như Việt Nam.
